Import and export

The Import page in the dashboard lets you migrate comment data from other systems into Quipthread.

Source File
Disqus XML export from the Disqus admin (Moderation → Export)
WordPress WXR WXR file from WordPress (Tools → Export)
Remark42 JSON export from the Remark42 admin panel
Quipthread JSON A Quipthread native JSON export
Quipthread SQLite A Quipthread SQLite database file
Generic SQLite Any SQLite file. After upload, choose a table and map its columns to comment fields such as content, page URL, author, and date.
  1. Open the Import page in the dashboard.
  2. Select the source.
  3. Choose the destination site and upload the file. For Generic SQLite, map the columns.
  4. Run the import and review the result.

Re-importing the same file skips comments that were already imported. For Generic SQLite, this requires mapping the source ID column.

Export your comment data from the Sites page. Select Export on a site row to reveal the export controls.

Format Availability
Native JSON All plans
CSV Starter plan and above on Quipthread Cloud; always when self-hosted

Use native JSON to move comments between Quipthread instances. An export is not a complete instance backup: it does not replace the database, account, and configuration backups described in Backups and restore.

Before exporting you can narrow the data:

Filter Options
Status Approved only, or all comments (including pending and rejected)
Date range From and to dates
Page ID Restrict to a single page
  1. Open the Sites page and select Export for your site.
  2. Choose the format and set any filters.
  3. Click Export — the browser will download the file directly.
